A new work, ‘I look from afar’, commissioned by Matthew Owens and the Choir of Wells Cathedral was performed on Sunday 2nd December as part of the cathedral’s Advent Carol Service. The Advent Responsory features a cantor singing from the West End, answered by the choir singing from the distant Lady Chapel at the other end of the cathedral, and also a chorister singing under the central tower. The service began at 5pm in total darkness, and also featured other music by Vaughan Williams and Victoria.
